Plot

Kang Yeo-jin doesn't have many memories of her childhood. Her mother was always absent, so she always missed her. Unlike her childhood only with memories of wanting, Yeo-jin fills her life with her love for Han Ik-ju. But when another woman who loves Han Ik-ju appears, Yeo-jin feels a subtle anxiety and suffers the pain of her life collapsing.

This  novel by Jo Kyung Ran was published in 1996, and it was the winner of the 1st Munhakdongne New Writers Award. The author examines the meaning of love and shabby, trivial daily life with a solid plot, delicate sentences, and a deep gaze that delves into the subtleties of human relationship.

1996년에 출간된 조경란의 장편소설로 제1회 문학동네신인작가상을 수상한 작품이다. 작가는 탄탄한 구성과 섬세한 문장 그리고 미묘한 인간관계를 파고드는 깊이 있는 시선으로 누추하고 시시한 일상과 사랑의 의미를 그려내었다.
