This is a novel by Cho Nam-ju, published in 2019. Cho, an author who portrayed the lives of women who were alienated and cut off from society in her 2016 novel Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982, portrayed the shadows and pains of those who were pushed out by the capitalist logic in her novel Saha Mansion. The main setting of the novel, “Saha Mansion” is a virtual space where people who are unable to be part of the system live. “Saha” refers to those who are rejected by the mainstream society for economic, social, and political reasons, and “Saha Mansion” is a refugee community where they live. The author shows the alienated present and the unforeseeable future of the people of “Saha Mansion” on the outskirts of the city-state.
