Plot

Impressed by Ahn Bin's idealistic worldview, Seok Sun-ok quits her job at school and begins to work as a nurse at Ahn Bin's hospital. Overcoming all the misunderstandings and pains surrounding Ahn bin and herself, Sun-ok leads a moral and spiritual life, following Ahn Bin's advice.

This is an original novel by Yi Kwang-Su, published by Bakmunseogwan in 1938. In the book, characters who agree with Ahn Bin's idealistic world view practice sacrifice and love beyond the material world and desire, and it is considered to be a presentation of the pantheistic religious view and idealistic world view that Yi Kwang-Su came to have in his later years.

1938년 박문서관에서 출간한 이광수의 全作 장편소설이다. 주인공 안빈의 이상주의적 세계관에 동의하는 인물들이 물질적인 세계와 욕망을 넘어서는 희생과 사랑을 실천하는데, 이는 이광수가 말년의 범신론적  종교관과 이상주의적 세계관을 서사화 한 것으로 평가받는다.
