Plot

Jimin, Jihyeon, Yeoul, and Sol are students at the same college. They maintain friendship by showing concerns about each other's shortcomings, but they distance each other regarding the discussions of issues of homosexuality, concerns about their love lives, and social issues. Unable to overcome her pain, Jimin commits suicide; Yeoul is a passive person who is unable to take care of people close to her; and Sol hides her sorrow with pretend cheeriness. Without knowing how to understand each other, they are becoming adults.

This is a novel by Kim Yi-deum, published in 2011. Set in a university town in the 1980s, it contains the records of youths living their daily lives while contemplating social problems in their own ways. Deficiency, loneliness, and difficulties in human relationships are portrayed with the perspective and sense that only young people can show. At the end of the novel, the readers see how the young women are becoming adults without knowing how to understand each other.

2011년에 출간된 김이듬의 장편소설이다. 소설은 1980년대 대학가를 배경으로 저마다의 방법으로 사회문제를 고민하면서 개인의 일상을 살아내는 청년들의 내밀한 자기 기록을 담고 있다. 결핍과 외로움, 인간관계의 어려움을 젊은이들만이 보여줄 수 있는 시각과 감각으로 그려내었다. 소설의 결말에서 청년들이 서로를 이해하는 방법을 모른 채 어른이 되어간다는 것을 알 수 있다.
