Plot

After Korea’s liberation from the Japanese rule and through the Korean War,  Mongsil takes care of her younger sister Nannam with a kind heart even in the harsh and difficult times. As she grows up, Mongsil meets many people, including her stepparents and soldiers from the People's Army.

This is a children’s novel by Kwon Jeong Saeng, published in 1984 . With a warm gaze, it tells the story of the protagonist who grows up in devastating reality, from immediately after Korea’s liberation from the Japanese rule to the Korean War.

1984년에 출간된 권정생의 장편동화다. 해방직후부터 한국전쟁까지 피폐한 현실 속에서 성장한 주인공의 이야기를 따뜻한 시선으로 그린 작품이다.
