Plot

Seocheol is fourteen years old, and he becomes friends with Yuwon, who is one of many people who fled to Jeju Island from the Korean War. From the people around them, they learn about the tragedy and violence of war.

2003년에 출간된 현길언의 장편동화다. 이 작품은 <전쟁소년>, <그때 나는 열 한 살이었다>에 이은 전쟁 3부작 성장소설의 마지막에 해당한다. 작품은 14살 주인공을 통해 한국전쟁이 남긴 상처와 고통을 그리고 있다. 작가는 전쟁이 남긴 절망 뿐아니라 앞으로 나아가야 할 방향이나 희망을 함께 다루고 있다.

Published in 2003, this young adult book by Hyun Kil-un is the last book in the series of young adult books the writer wrote. The series begins with War Boy, followed by I Was Eleven Years Old Back Then. The series deals with growing up in the midst of war, especially the scars and pain left behind by the Korean War. The writer ends on a hopeful note by suggesting ways for a better future in his book.
