Plot
Choe Mu-gyeong's fiance, Oh Si-hyeong, defects after being imprisoned for ideological issues. Choe Mu-gyeong starts studying philosophy, thinking that she should have her own life. Lee Gwan-hyeong, a university lecturer, moves into the house next door to Mu-gyeong’s. Choe Mu-gyeong discusses the problem of defection and oriental studies with Lee Gwan-hyeong. Lee is critical of oriental studies and approaches it cautiously. Choe Mu-gyeong decides to create her own methodology.
