1993년에 출간된 시인 서정주의 열네 번째 시집이다. 시인이 1988년부터 1993년까지 쓴 72편의 시들이 수록되어 있다. 서정주는 1941년 출간된 시집 <화사집> 이후로 <귀촉도>(1948), <질마재 신화>(1975), <팔할이 바람>(1988) 등 수많은 시집을 발표하며 한국 시문학사에 커다란 영향을 끼쳤다. 불교 사상을 기초로 하여 동양적 신화와 설화의 정신을 담은 창작했으며, 탁월한 상상력과 뛰어난 언어 조탁 능력으로 높은 평가를 받았다. <늙은 떠돌이의 시>는 시인의 말년에 발표된 시집으로, 세계 곳곳을 떠돌아다니며 얻은 경험들을 시로 담아내고 있다.

Published in 1993, this 14th collection of Seo Jeong-ju introduces 72 of his poems released from 1988 to 1993.  After his first collection of poems, Flower Snake, was published in 1941, he released numerous collections of his poetry— Gwichokdo in 1948, Myth of Jilmajae in 1975, and For Eight Parts in Ten, It Was the Power of the Wind in 1988. His poetry, which includes Asian myths and folktales rooted in Buddhism, has been a huge influence on Korean poetry and literature, and his poetic imagination and mastery of the Korean language are still praised and studied by critics. Old Vagabond’s Poems is based on his own experience of traveling the world, and it was released late in his literary career.
