2014년에 출간된 에세이집이다. 2014년 계간지<문학동네>가을호에 발표한 '세월호 참사'에 관한 작가들의 에세이를 출간한 것이다. 김애란, 김연수, 배명훈 둥 모두 12명의 작가들이 한국사회에서 '세월호 참사'가 지니는 의미와 충격에 대해서 기록하고 있다.

This collection of essays by different writers was published in the autumn 2014 issue of the literary magazine Munhakdongne. Twelve writers including Kim Ae-ran, Kim Yeon-su, and Bae Myung-hoon wrote about the shock of the tragic sinking of MV Sewol and its meaning to Korean society.
