Plot

When her interpreter father dies, Tanya heads to Russia. After trying her hand in various businesses, she returns home to Joseon once again. In Joseon, she becomes the first Korean barista in charge of providing coffee to King Gojong. From then, she observes the conspiracies and trickeries of politicians in the Russian legation from up close.

This is a novel by Kim Takhwan, published in 2009. With the first Korean barista as the protagonist, the plot revolves around the conspiracies and schemes of politicians, including the conspiracy to poison King Gojong at the end of the 19th century.
