One day, the “Woman in Pants” comes to the narrator, a writer who lives with the stigma of plagiarizing someone else’s work. She tells the narrator that she had the same dream as him and believes that his novel is not a plagiarism. With her help, he tries to write something new, but he has a hard time and ends up leading a pathetic life of penning erotic novels. Meanwhile, the narrator’s friend “Bank Clerk” works as a bank clerk to support his family. At the end of the story, all three characters each lead a different life than the ones they used to. The narrator, who was a novelist, becomes an actress’s secretary; the “Woman in Pants” becomes a popular actress; and “Bank Clerk” becomes a best-selling novelist.
