Plot

Kang Suha is assigned to teach at a small elementary school in the countryside, and one of his students, Hong Yeon, a teenage girl, has a crush on him. But Kang Suha becomes interested in his fellow teacher Yang Eunhui.

1999년에 출간한 하근찬의 장편소설이다. 1999년 동명의 제목으로 영화화되었다. 작품은 1960년대를 배경으로 작가가 초등학교 교사로 일하면서 경험했던 일을 바탕으로 그린 자전적인 이야기다. 젊은 남자선생님과 나이 많은 초등학생의 첫사랑을 섬세한 시선으로 그려내었다.

This novel by Ha Keun-chan was published in 1999, and its film adaptation was also released in the same year. Set in the 1960s, the story is based on the writer’s own experience working as an elementary school teacher. The novel tells the touching and heartwarming love story between a teenage girl still in elementary school and her young teacher.
