Plot

In her old age, Hwang Jin-i begins to write about her life, as requested by her teacher Seo Gyeong-deok in his will. This book records the life of Hwang Jin-i as a poet, woman, and courtesan (gisaeng), based on the ups and downs and misunderstandings she experienced in her life.

This is a novel by Kim Takhwan, published in 2002. In the book, Hwang Jin-i looks back on her life on her deathbed. It reveals the delicate details of the frustrations and despair she felt as a woman living in a society ruled by a rigid, yangban-centered social hierarchy.

2002년에 출간한 김탁환의 장편소설이다. 소설은 죽음을 앞둔 노년의 황진이가 자신의 삶을 되돌아보는 형식을 취했다. 양반중심의 신분제도와 여성이라는 불리한 조건에서 느꼈던 좌절과 절망을 섬세하게 드러내었다.
