This is a short story by Jeon Kwangyong, published in Sasanggye in July 1962. It satirically depicts the opportunistic and secular members of the upper class through the character who amasses wealth in pursuit of power from the colonial period through Korea’s liberation from the Japanese rule and into the 1950s.

1962년 7월 <사상계>에 발표한 전광용의 단편소설이다. 일제시대와 광복 그리고 1950년대에 이르기까지 권력을 쫓아 재산을 불려온 인물을 통해 기회주의적이며 세속적인 상류층의 단면을 풍자적으로 그렸다.
