Plot

The singer Baek Nam-hui is kidnapped by Gu Jong-tae, but makes her escape after two weeks. Yet Gu Jong-tae soon commits suicide, and the prosecutor suspects that Baek Nam-hui had a hand in his suicide. No one is able to tell the truth about whether Gu Jong-tae’s death is suicide or murder.

This is a novel by Yi Chong-jun, which had been published under the title Je 3ui hyeonjang (The Third Site) in 1984 and was revised and republished under the new title Geu norae dasi bureuji motane (The Song That Cannot Be Sung Again). It records the pain of those who experienced the Gwangju Uprising in May 1980 and addresses the issue of truth.

1984년 <제3의 현장>으로 발표한 작품을 <그 노래 다시 부르지 못하네>로 제목과 내용을 수정하여 재출간한 이청준의 장편소설이다. 1980년 5월의 광주항쟁을 경험한 자들의 아픔을 기록하고 진실의 문제를 다루고 있다.
