Plot

The titular short story “Sweet Potato,” tells the story of a poor but well-bred Pong-nyo, who is sold into marriage for money. Her lazy and abusive husband doesn't bring in any money, and they grow poorer. Pong-nyo is forced into prostitution, but she becomes increasingly depraved as she gets a taste of money.
