This collection introduces representative short stories from Korea, published from the 1950s to the 1980s. A total of 11 short stories are included, featuring Yi Mun-yol’s “Geumsijo” (금시조 The Golden Phoenix) as the title piece, along with Son Chang-sop’s “Bioneun nal” (비오는 날 Rainy Days) and Ha Keun-Chan’s “Sunanidae” (수난이대 The Suffering of Two Generations).
