They saw pain, hardship, and death, but they observed courage, resilience, humor, and love even in the most dire times. The four younger writers are active creators of works that have won top literary awards. Au moment de déménager, un homme découvre les affaires intimes que sa femme a enfermées dans des boîtes. Lui reviennent alors en mémoire leur liaison amoureuse et les efforts entrepris pour vaincre sa stérilité. Des scènes de neurasthénie, aussi, qui la plongeaient dans la torpeur du sommeil ou lui faisaient inventer des histoires. Et cette femme un jour découche ! A-t-elle un amant ? plusieurs ? À présent qu’elle est à l’hôpital psychiatrique, la voici pour lui hors d’atteinte. Sur cette impossible communication entre deux êtres, Eun Hee-kyung n’est pas en reste. Son point de vue féministe, d’une grande lucidité, renouvelle en profondeur la vision de la société coréenne contemporaine. Un vrai regard de femme libre ! Eun Hee-kyung, née en Corée en 1959, publie en 1996 son premier roman, le Cadeau de l’oiseau, prix Munhakdongne de la fiction. Elle fait paraître ensuite une dizaine de livres et obtient d’autres prix importants venant couronner une reconnaissance critique et un très grand succès populaire.
