Sbírka přináší poezii korejského básníka Ko Una, kandidáta na Nobelovu cenu za literaturu, který se během korejské války a další desetiletí potuloval po celé Koreji jako žebravý mnich. Koncem 60. let se přerodil v politického aktivistu a disidenta, čtyřikrát vězněného, ve třetím případě byl odsouzen na patnáct let. Dnes je ale Ko Un přítelem současného korejského prezidenta i řady dalších významných politických osobností. Ve svých básních však Ko Un rozvíjí především tradici korejské zenové poezie, založené na detailním a do paradoxů dovedeném zachycení scenérie či prožitku. Le recueil Fleurs de l’instant (2001) évoquera pour le lecteur français le haïku, mais il ne s’agit pas ici d’une forme fixe – seul le travail de la brièveté, du surgissement, compte. La poétique de Ko Un consiste dans ce recueil certes à trouver souvent les « copeaux du pur présent » dont parle Roland Barthes à propos du haïku, mais surtout à atteindre, dans une perspective marquée par le bouddhisme, l’éveil, le moment où la préoccupation individuelle disparaît et où se dissipent les illusions qui nous détournent du monde.
