This is an introductory booklet on Kyung-sook Shin, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The author participated in the main program in October and literary events in June. This 21-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of The Girl Who Wrote Loneliness’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by literary scholar Baek Ji-hye, and translated by Choi Eun-ah. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. Kyung-sook Shin participated in literary events in Erlangen, Wien (June), Frankfurt House of Literature and Bad Homburg (October). The German translation of The Girl Who Wrote Loneliness was published by Pendragon in 2011.

This is an introductory booklet on novelist Kyung-sook Shin produced for the 2014 London Book Fair Korea Market Focus. On April 9, in PEN Salon, Kyung-sook Shin discussed her literature with a focus on I’ll Be Right There—the English translation of which was due to be published following the success of Please Look After Mom. On April 9, in Whitehall Room, she participated in the literary seminar “Families, Relationships and Society”, where she discussed the conflict between the traditional and the modern, and space between the old and the young. On April 10, in Asia House, she discussed the impact of the partition of a country and divisions of families on society and her work. This 20-page booklet consists of: “About the Author”, “About the Work” and “Excerpts”.

Shin participated in the “Korea-Russia Conversation with Writers” on October 23, followed by a poetry reading at Moscow State University in October 26, where she communed with local Russian students who were studying Korean literature. This is an introductory material for novelist Shin Kyung-sook for the invitational event titled “Hearing from Three Representative Korean Female Writers” held at the Korean Cultural Center China on August 31, 2007, and a cultural conference of Korean-Chinese writers. At the 14th Beijing International Book Fair, Shin Kyung-sook introduced her world of works and her novel The Girl Who Wrote Loneliness, which was translated and published in Chinese, and had a discussion with the audience.
