박형준(1966년 ~ )은 대한민국의 시인이자 대학교수이다.
2. 생애
박형준은 1966년 전라북도 정읍에서 태어나 서울예술대학 문예창작과를 졸업하고 명지대학교 대학원 문예창작학과에서 석사학위와 박사학위를 받았다. 그는 유년 시절 시골에서 상경해서 인천이라는 낯선 도시에서 살아갔다. 이때의 도시 체험은 그로 하여금 시를 쓰게 만든 배경으로 작용했다. 그는 이렇게 고백한다. “그래서 인천에 살 때는 끊임없이 떠돌면서도 고여 있는 것 같은 느낌이 들 때가 많았어요. 그런데 그게 아마 나한테는 시를 쓰게 하는 힘이었던 것 같아요.” 서울예술대학에서 시인 오규원과 최하림에게 사사했으며, 이후 1991년 《한국일보》 신춘문예에 ｢가구의 힘｣이 당선되어 등단했다. 1996년 제1회 「꿈과시문학상」, 2002년 제15회 「동서문학상」, 2005년 제10회 「현대시학작품상」, 2009년 제24회 「소월시문학상」 대상, 2012년 제9회 「육사시문학상」을 수상했다. 현재 동국대학교 문예창작학과 교수(2014~)로 재직 중이다.
3. 작품세계
박형준은 “한국 서정시의 전통을 가장 현대적으로 재해석하고 있는 시인”으로, “이지와 감성의 결합, 언어와 율조의 긴장, 감각과 서정의 균형 등을 통한 시적 성취를 높이 평가”(2009년 제24회 소월시문학상 대상 심사평)받고 있다. 박형준은 부재와 그 부재를 둘러싼 내밀한 상처를, 그 아련한 기억의 체취를 채집하는 시인이다. 그는 일찍부터 이 세계가 황량한 폐허와 같다는 사실을 깨닫고, 그 황폐함 속에서 포착될 수 있는 아름다움의 기미에 집중해왔다. 그는 이 세계에 가득해 있는 삶의 비애를 오랫동안 응시하는 방식으로 어떤 시적 순간들을 언어화한다. 그러한 소멸의 순간이 그에게는 ‘저녁’이라는 시간으로 형상화 된다. 박형준에게 저녁은 삶과 환각이 공존하는 매혹적인 시간으로, 현실이 사라지고 사라졌던 과거의 기억이 되살아나는 경계의 순간을 가리킨다.
첫 시집 『나는 이제 소멸에 대해서 이야기하련다』에서 시인은 지나가버린 흔적, 생의 상처가 배어 있는 시간을 감각적으로 기록한다. 그는 한 세계의 과거와 현재, 그리고 미래가 한 곳으로 모이는 소멸의 순간에 천착한다. 타자에 대해 공명하는 예민한 감수성을 천성으로 지닌 시인은 최근 시집 『불탄 집』에 이르러 소멸의 기억을 재생하는 데에서 한걸음 나아가 현재 속에서 고달프고 상처 많은 생명들의 손을 잡기 위하여 시의 범위를 확장해 나가고 있다. 고통스런 삶에서 온기를 느끼려는 안간힘이 그의 시에서 느껴지면서, 독자들에게 진한 감동을 전한다.

Park Hyungjun (born 1966) is a South Korean poet and university professor.
2. Life
Park Hyungjun was born in 1966 in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do. He graduated from the Seoul Institute of the Arts in creative writing, and then he received a master’s degree and a doctorate degree in creative writing from Myongji University’s graduate school. During his early years, he came up from the country side and lived in Incheon, a city unfamiliar to him. His experiences in the city during these years led him to write poetry. He has confessed as following. “So when I was living in Incheon, I felt often as if I was stagnant even though I was endlessly drifting. But I think that was what drove me to write poetry.”[1] At Seoul Institute of the Arts, he was a pupil of poets Oh Kyu Won and Choe Ha-rim. Afterwards, he began his literary career when in 1991 his poem Gagu-ui him (가구의 힘 The Strength of Furniture) won the Korea Times New Writer’s Award. He was awarded the first Dream and Poetry Literary Award in 1996, the 15th Dongsuh Literary Award in 2002, the 10th Contemporary Poetics Award in 2005, the 24th Sowol Poetry Award Grand Prize in 2009, the 9th Yuksa Poetry Award [JP1] in 2012. In 2014 he became a professor in creative writing at Dongguk University.
Park Hyungjun is a “poet who is reinterpreting the tradition of Korean lyric poetry in the most modern way,” and it has been said that he is “worthy of high praise for his poetic achievement through his combination of intellect and emotion, tension between language and rhythm, and balance between sense and lyricism” (Commentary on his 24th Sowol Poetry Award Grand Prize in 2009). Park Hyungjun is a poet who collects absence and the inner scars surrounding that absence, as well as the traces of such faint memories. He realized from early on that this world was like a desolate ruin, and has concentrated into the signs of beauty that could be found within that desolation. He uses the method of observing for a long time the life’s sorrows that fill this world, putting in words certain poetic moments. Such moment of disappearance[JP1] is turned into the imagery of ‘evening’ for him. To Park Hyungjun, the evening is a very captivating time where life and hallucination coexists. It points to the moment of the boundary where reality disappears and past memories that were lost are reborn.
In his first poetry collection, Naneun ije somyeol-e daehaeseo iyagiharyeonda (나는 이제 소멸에 대해서 이야기하련다 I Would Now Like to Talk About Disappearance), the poet sensually records the times that bears passed traces, and life’s scars. He delves into the moment of disappearance where the past, present and the future of a world comes together. With naturally given acute sensibility that enables him to sympathize with others, the poet has now arrived at his recent poetry collection Bultan jib (불탄 집 The Burnt House), taking a step forward from replaying the memory of disappearance toward holding the hands of the many struggling and hurt lives in the world now, thereby expanding the spectrum of his poetry. His poetry makes one feel the desperation for warmth amidst a painful life, which deeply moves his readers.
