This is an introductory booklet on Hwang Sok-yong, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The author participated in the main program in October and literary events in March, April, May and September. This 21-pagebooklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of Mr. Han’s Chronicle’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by Lim Hongbae, and translated by Kang Yeo-Kyu. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. Hwang Sok-yong participated in literary events in Leipzig (March, Leipzig Book Fair), Cologne, Düsseldorf (April), Hamburg, Lüneburg (May), Berlin (September), Frankfurt (House of Literature) and Bad Berleburg (October). As one of the 12 Masters of Korean Literature, he was introduced at the Frankfurt Book Fair Korean Pavilion—with a large photograph and a list of his major works and translated titles. The German translation of his work Mr. Han’s Chronicle was published by dtv in 2005.

This is an introductory booklet on novelist Han Kang, produced for the 2014 London Book Fair Korea Market Focus. On April 9, Han Kang participated in the literary seminar “Families, Relationships and Society” about the impact of modernity on Korean society, and the families and relationships of its people. She discussed the conflict between the traditional and the modern, and space between the old and the young. In addition, she read from and discussed her novel The Vegetarian at Edinburgh Central Library on April 10. This 22-page booklet consists of: “About the Author”, “About the Work” and “Excerpts”. The excerpts are taken from Greek Lessons and The Vegetarian.

This is an introductory booklet on novelist Hwang Sok-yong, produced for literary events at the 2008 Guadalajara International Book Fair and a nearby university. In celebration of the publication of the Spanish translation of The Guest, Hwang Sok-yong participated in literary events at the Guadalajara International Book Fair and University of Guadalajara, where he interacted with readers in Mexico. Hwang Sok-yong became the first Korean writer to deliver a keynote speech at the Guadalajara International Book Fair .

The theme of _List Vol. 1 is “Three Keywords to View Korea’s New Generation of Writers: Family, City, and History.” This issue contextualizes the new trend in Korean literature with the three subthemes “Towards a New Family,” “The Postmodern City and Its Discontents,” and “Memory, Time, and Politics.” In addition, this issue features interviews of novelist Hwang Sok-yong and cartoonist Heo Young-man, Korean publishing trends, coverage of the acceptance of Korean literature overseas, a spotlight on a literary site, book reviews of fiction/nonfiction/children’s literature and introduces steady sellers, publishers, and trends in Korean literature to overseas readers.
