Yi Kwang-su (1892-1950) is the pioneer of Korean literature at the turn of the 20th century, when the country was under Japanese colonial rule (1910-1945). Although he was known as a great novelist, he also wrote many poems and essays. "Kashil" and Best Essays contain one short story and seven essays, chosen and translated by his daughter, Dr. Lee Chung-Nan. Lee received her doctorate in English Literature from New York University and taught English literature at various colleges and universities before she turned to the law profession. From the perspective of an English scholar, she chose her father's seven best essays. I can feel the love of her father.

At least two new publishers entered the field: Frische&Co. published its first e-books, and New Vessel Press brought out its first titles. In addition to bringing out the twentieth volume in its translation anthology series, Two Lines’ new book publishing arm published its first titles. And the long-anticipated Library of Arabic Literature launched six more books, following its first offering in December 2012.

يعتبر الأدب الكوري أدباً غريباً عن معظم القراء العرب على خلاف الأدب الصيني أو الياباني، فعدد الأعمال المترجمة قليل جداً، عدا عن أن النصوص لم تستحوذ على اهتمام دور النشر العربية آنفاً. وبينما اتجه القراء العرب عموماً إلى أدب أوروبا والغرب بالمطلق، كان هناك أدب كوري ينشأ في الشرق الأقصى بمعزل عن نظريات النقد الأوروبية والتيارات الأدبية التي حكمت الرواية الغربية والرواية العربية أواخر القرن الـ 20.

文學獎制度是由多種制度相互交織而成的韓國文學場主要組成部分。目前在韓國實施的文學獎數量超過一百多種，其獎項性質也相當多樣。這些眾多文學獎分別由不同規模的出版社、言論媒體、文學團體或文藝雜誌、企業財團、地方政府、大學，以及個別作家紀念會等具文化屬性的機構所設置。其中，有些是以出版社和地方政府合辦方式管理，有些是由言論媒體和文學團體共同主辦，因此很難明確指出其所屬主管單位。此外，考慮到詩、小說、散文、童話、戲劇、文學批評等各文學領域都分別設有各自的文學獎項，因此以何種標準同時又如何對其分類，其實並非易事。不過，整體來看仍可以大分為以作家命名的文學獎以及其他二類，在此姑且依此分類略作介紹。

كنت محظوظاً بالحصول على ملخصات ملمومة وحيوية لعدد من الروايات الكورية الجنوبية صادرة عن دار «صفصافة» في القاهرة للناشر والصحفي والمثقف محمد البعلي في مناسبة اختيار كوريا الجنوبية ضيف شرف معرض الشارقة الدولي للكتاب 2023، وأرجع هذا الحظ بالحصول على روايات ملخصة إلى الفراغ الواسع الذي ينفرد أمامنا حين نبحث عن الأدب الكوري الذي يقوم على لغة معروفة في آسيا باسم «هانغل» وتعود، كما جاء في «الويكيبيديا» في نشأتها إلى القرن الخامس عشر على يد الملك «سيجونغ العظيم».
