This is an introductory booklet on Kyung-sook Shin, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The author participated in the main program in October and literary events in June. This 21-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of The Girl Who Wrote Loneliness’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by literary scholar Baek Ji-hye, and translated by Choi Eun-ah. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. Kyung-sook Shin participated in literary events in Erlangen, Wien (June), Frankfurt House of Literature and Bad Homburg (October). The German translation of The Girl Who Wrote Loneliness was published by Pendragon in 2011.

His work ‘The Rainy Spell’ is included in Die kleine Schamanin. Geschichte aus Korea (1998) published in Germany.
