    This is an introductory booklet on Kim Seungok, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The author was unable to attend the events due to personal reasons. This 25-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of Seoul Winter 1964’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ’Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by literary scholar Kim Seung-min, and translated by Cho Geum-hwan. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. His work ‘Seoul Winter 1964’ is included in the short story collection Trip to Mujin (2009) published in German by Peperkorn.

The material was put together and analyzed by Park Jeong-joon, and translated by Kim In-gyeom. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. Seo Jeong-in participated in literary events in Hamburg (May), and at the Frankfurt Book Fair Korean Pavilion and Leipzig House of the Book (October). As one of the 12 Masters of Korean Literature, he was introduced at the Frankfurt Book Fair Korean Pavilion—with a large photograph and a list of his major works and translated titles. His work ‘Homecoming’ is included in the collection of Korean short stories published by dtv (2005).

Lee Ho-cheol participated in literary events in Dresden (March), Berlin and Düsseldorf (September). His work ‘Southerners, Northerners’ was included in his short story collection of the same title published in German in 2002.

    The theme of _List Vol. 18 is “Creating the World in Korean Literature.” Under the four subthemes “Imagining America and the ‘Other,’” “European Cities Reimagined,” “Reflections of Korea’s East and Central Asian Neighbors,” and “Beyond Exoticism: The Evolution of ‘Exotic Scenery,’” this issue introduces 22 works of Korean literature on the topic of world and borders. In addition, this issue features interviews with literary critic Kim Byong-ik and philosopher Kang Shin-joo, Korean publishing trends, coverage of the acceptance of Korean literature overseas, a spotlight on a literary site, book reviews of fiction/nonfiction/children’s literature, and an excerpt from Kim Seungok’s A Trip to Mujin and introduces steady sellers, publishers, and trends in Korean literature to overseas readers.
