2015 Guadalajara International Book Fair: Author GU Byeong-mo Introductory Booklet

This is an introductory booklet on novelist GU Byeong-mo, produced for literary events at the Guadalajara International Book Fair and a nearby university. In celebration of the publication of The Wizard Bakery in Spanish, GU Byeong-mo participated in literary events at the Guadalajara International Book Fair, University of Guadalajara, Autonomous University of Nayarit, and Preparatoria 15 Secondary School between November 29 and December 7. Co-organized with the publishing house Nostra, the events led to the success of the Spanish translation of The Wizard Bakery (initial print run: 10,000). This 22-page introductory booklet consists of: “Author’s Literary World”, “About the Work”, “Essay”, “Biography” and “Bibliography”.

This is an introductory booklet on novelist Choi Eunyoung, produced for the Taipei International Book Exhibition Korea Guest of Honor Program. Choi Eunyoung was one of the five Korean writers who participated in the Guest of Honor Program. She was selected as a delegate for the purpose of publishing and promoting her work in Taiwan. The Korea Guest of Honor Program was co-organized by the Literature Translation of Korea, the Korean Publishers Association, and Taipei Book Fair Foundation. This 20-page booklet consists of: “About the Author”, “Essay”, “Excerpts”, and “Bibliography”. The booklet was put together by the LTI Korea, while the Korean Publishers Association was in charge of translation. The excerpts are taken from Harmless Person and Shoko’s Smile—published in Taiwan in 2019 and 2018 respectively.

The theme of KLN Vol. 55 is “The Female Family Tree.” Through the works of Hwang Jungeun, Choi Eunyoung, and Chung Serang, this issue traces the memories of a certain history that continues from women to women. The Featured Writer section highlights novelist Kim Soom, who celebrates the 25th anniversary of her debut this year with a writer’s note and an essay in addition to an interview with the author and excerpts of her works. Readers can read the entire text of Kim Soom’s “The Man Who Touches Waves” and Lee Misang’s “When a Woman Subways.” Additionally, Inkstone introduces the culture of the Joseon royal court through “Gungwol: The Korean Palaces” and “Gungnyeo: The Palace Women.”
