2005 Frankfurt Book Fair: Author Kim Hyesoon Introductory BookletGerman(Deutsch)

This is an introductory booklet on Kim Hyesoon, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. Kim Hyesoon participated literary events in September and in the main program in October. This 21-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Poetry Excerpts’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by literary scholar Lee Soo-jung, and translated by Kang Yeo-Kyu. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. The booklet contains seven poems including ‘In Eyes’ translated into German. She participated in literary events in Berlin and Basel in September, and then at the Frankfurt Book Fair Korean Pavilion and Romanfabrik in October. The German translation of her work The Hell of a Certain Star was published in 2001.
