    This is an introductory booklet on Lee Seung-U, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The author participated in the main program in October and literary events in May. This 21-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of The Reverse Side of Life’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by Cha Mi-ryeong, and translated by Elke Golchert-Jung. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. Lee Seung-U participated in literary events in Hamburg and Lüneburg in May, and at the Frankfurt House of Literature and Bielefeld City Library in October. The German translation of The Reverse Side of Life was published in Germany in 1996.

    This is an introductory booklet on novelist Lee Seung-U produced for the 2014 London Book Fair Korea Market Focus. Lee Seung-U participated in the literary seminar “Illusion and Reality: Writing the Self” (April 8, Whitehall Room), where he discussed how language contended with the fissure between reality and ideal, and how the rapidly changing social landscapes in the UK and Korean had affected our relationships with the written word. On April 11, at Old College, Aberystwyth, he discussed his literature with a focus on The Reverse Side of Life. This 20-page booklet consists of: “About the Author”, “About the Work” and “Excerpts”. The excerpts are taken from The Private Life of Plants and The Reverse Side of Life.

    This is the audio file of the second session of “One on One,” the main event of the Seoul International Writers’ Festival 2019. The session was held at Crea, on the second floor of the DDP Design Lab, on October 9, 2019. The session was conducted as a conversation between one Korean writer and one foreign writer, and it was attended by an audience of 97 people. Participating Korean and foreign writers held a discussion under the theme of “Human Alienation in Society.”

    The theme of _List Vol. 23 is “Children’s Picture Books.” The trend and status of children’s picture books are analyzed under four subthemes: picture book industry in the spotlight, picture books as art, new story materials for children, and two major figures in the world of illustration (Noh In-Kyung, Lee Gi-hun). In addition, this issue features interviews with picture book writers Gwon Yun-deok and Choi Jae-hoon, Korean publishing trends, coverage of the acceptance of Korean literature overseas, a spotlight on a literary site, book reviews of fiction/nonfiction/children’s literature, and an excerpt from Lee Seung-U’s The Gaze at Broad Daylight and introduces steady sellers, publishers, and trends in Korean literature to overseas readers.
