Plot

At the command of the corrupt Dragon King, the incompetent Turtle is forced to go on land to catch a rabbit. The hypocritical Rabbit is deceived by Turtle's words and goes to meet the Dragon King. Upon his arrival at the Dragon’s palace, the Rabbit finds out that he has been deceived, but he falls in love with the Dragon King's woman and soon escapes from the palace and settles down on a plot of land. Meanwhile, the Turtle receives no reward from the Dragon King for his pains, and so he joins the Rabbit on land.

2018년에 출간된 박덕규의 장편소설이다. 작품은 판소리계열 소설인<토끼전>과 "토끼와 별주부이야기"등 다양한 형태로 전해오던 이야기를 현대적인 시각으로 해석하여 만든 소설이다. 특히 토끼와 자라, 용왕은 기존의 서사에서 벗어나 2010년대의 현실을 압축하고 비판적으로 문제를 제시하고 있다.

This novel by Park Duk Kyu was published in 2018. It is a modern reinterpretation of the pansori novel Rabbit’s Tale and the folktale “The Story of the Rabbit and the Turtle.” In particular, the Rabbit, Turtle, and the Dragon King break away from the existing narratives to present a story that condenses the reality of the 2010s.
