Plot

The seventh in a series of murders takes place in a city, with all seven of the victims found with two bullets in their forehead. The police are unable to do anything, making people afraid and anxious. One day, an online entity known as “Justice Man” appears to make headway with the investigation, offering an analysis of the murders and identifying a possible culprit. “Justice Man” grows in popularity, and the murder case turns into a cat-and-mouse game between the killer and “Justice Man.”

2017년에 출간된 도선우의 장편소설이다. 같은 해 제13회 세계문학상 대상을 수상했다. 작품은 한국사회에서 빈번하게 벌어지는 폭력의 문제를 추리소설의 기법으로 파헤치고 있다.  작가는 잇달아 벌어지는 살인사건과 범인을 잡지 못하는 무능한 경찰, 공권력을 대신해 등장한 '저스티스맨'의 활약을 통해 사회적 정의는 어떻게 구현되어야 하는지 질문을 던지고 있다.

This novel by Do Seonu was published in 2017. In the same year, it received the Grand Prize of the World Literature Award. Through the genre of the mystery novel, it explores the problems of violence in Korean society, featuring a serial murder, police incompetence, and a “Justice Man” who acts on behalf of the public authorities.
