    This collection of essays from the 2006 Seoul Young Writers’ Festival contains messages from the President of LTI Korea and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, and essays by 36 writers. The festival took place on May 7~13, 2006 in Seoul, Youngju and Andong.

    This is an introductory booklet on Jo Kyung Ran, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The author participated in the main program in October and literary events in April. This 17-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Analysis of Looking for the Elephant’, ‘Excerpt’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by Kim Tae-hwan, and translated by Chu Geum-hwan. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. Jo Kyung Ran participated in literary events in Cologne in April, and at the Frankfurt Künstlerhaus Mousonturm and the Cologne House of Literature in October. Her work ‘Looking for the Elephant’ is included in the collection of Korean short stories published by Pendragon in 2002.

    The theme of _List Vol. 6 is “Korean Cinema and Literature.” This issue sheds light on the impact of Korean literature in the history of Korean films under the subthemes “Reliving the Korean Film Renaissance (1950s-1960s), “Literary and Cinematic Imagination Rising from the Darkness (19970s-mid 1990s),” and “Novels in the Age of One-Source Multi-Usage (1990s-2010s). In addition, this issue features interviews with novelist Jo Kyung Ran and cartoonist Kim Dong Hwa, Korean publishing trends, coverage of the acceptance of Korean literature overseas, author’s notes by literary critic Hong Jungsun and novelist Kim Junghyuk, a spotlight on a literary site, and book reviews of fiction/nonfiction/children’s literature and introduces steady sellers, publishers, and trends in Korean literature to overseas readers.

    The theme of _List Vol. 25 is “Literature of the Korean Diaspora.” It introduces Korean diaspora literature from the United States, Japan, China, and Central Asia and examines the current state of diaspora literature. This issue also includes an interview with the Featured Writer, poet Ko Un, an essay on his world of works, his works that have been published in Korea and abroad, and some of his poems. In addition, it introduces LTI Korea’s projects, such as the 2014 Seoul International Writers’ Festival, the 13th International Workshop for the Translation and Publication of Korean Literature, the 8th Survey of Published Korean Literature, and the residency program and analyzes the trend in the translation and publishing world. It also presents an excerpt from Jo Kyung-ran’s “The Story of Ladle” in English.
