2012년에 출간된 김태용의 소설집이다. 표제작을 비롯하여 <물의 무덤>, <웅덩이>, <머리없이, 허리없이>등 모두 8편의 작품이 수록되어 있다. 작가는 세계를 분별하는 경계와 세계 전체를 부정하며, 전형적인 서사를 거부하는 글쓰기를 통해 '소설적인 문장'이란 무엇인지 고민한다. 작품에는 죽음을 앞둔 사람, 각성과 환각의 경계에 놓인 자, 환자인지 시체인지 분명하지 않은 사람들이 오로지 침대 위와 머릿 속에서만 말을 하고 있는데, 이들을 통해 작가는 불가능한 이야기를 가능하게 만들고 있다.

This short story collection by Kim Taeyong was published in 2012. It features eight short stories in total, such as “The Tomb of Water,” “The Puddle,” “Without a Head, Without a Waist,” and the title story. In these stories, the author rejects both the world and its boundaries, subverting the narrative form and reconfiguring literary prose. The characters in the stories are either on the verge of death, on the borderline between wakefulness and delusion, or unable to tell whether they are a patient or a corpse. By giving voice to their thoughts, the author makes possible those stories that are otherwise impossible to tell.
