When the Korean War breaks out, Kim Hak su, the president of Hanmi Trading Company, lives in hiding with his secretary and lover, Kang Sun je, in the home of Shin Yeong sik, the head of Investigation Division at the company. Sun je develops feelings for Yeong sik, but Yeong sik is taken by the communist volunteer army to Pyongyang where he is forced into labor. When he returns home after the ROK army’s counterattack, Yeong sik breaks off with his fiancée Myeong seon and chooses to be with Sun je. Meanwhile, Kim Hak su is arrested when someone informs on him.
