Plot

By chance, the narrator acquires a manuscript titled Chwiseongnok written by Yi In-mong. As he is unable to find proof of the historical facts in the book, he decides to translate it and publish it as a fiction. Chwiseongnok is a record suggesting the connection between the death of Jang Jong-oh, a royal book examiner, and King Jeongjo. The narrator analyzes the death of King Jeongjo's father, Crown Prince Sado, and the political topography of the time, and examines the records of murders and conspiracies.

This is a novel by Lee In-hwa, published in 1993. The story features a fictional historical manuscript called Chwiseongnok, but the entire novel was created based on detailed research on the relevant period and extensive knowledge of the upper-class society in the late Joseon Dynasty.

1993년 출간된 이인화의 장편소설이다. <취성록>이라는 실재하지 않는 역사 기록물을 창조했으나, 당대에 대한 치밀한 자료 조사, 조선 후기 상류층 사회에 대한 해박한 지식을 바탕으로 창작되었다.
