Published in 1991, this novel by Choi Suchol is about violence, repressed sexuality, and the unexamined life. With these provocative themes, the writer illustrates how violence is systematically implemented to oppress humans in diverse ways, one of which is sexual repression . He also points out that this violence continues because people never examine their actions and the consequences.
