1994년에 출간된 오태석의 희곡이다. 작가는 전통의 재발견과 현대적인 수용을 통해 한국적 연극을 모색해왔는데, 이 작품 역시 <심청이야기>를  현대적으로 재해석한 것으로 평가받는다. 세상에 오염되지 않고 자신의 삶을 꾸려나가는 심청과 현실적이지만 주도적으로 각자의 삶을 살아가는 주변인물들 그리고 부패하고 타락한 바다 속 용왕 등 작가의 새로운 해석이 흥미로운 작품이다.

This play by Oh Taeseok was published in 1994, and this modern interpretation of the story of Simcheong was staged with performative elements from traditional Korean theater.  In the story, the main character Simcheong tries to live her life independently without depending on help from others, while the Dragon King of the Sea is represented as a corrupted and immoral figure.
