Plot

Kim Min-seo, a professor at the University of Berkeley, becomes embroiled in a murder case involving antique artworks among Chinese people. Chinese spies are frantic to find an item called “hyeonucheop.” Kim Min-seo finds out that the item contains a record about the official who ruled Beijing during the reign of Gwanggaeto the Great was an official from Goguryeo. This item was in the hands of Kim Il-sung and was passed to China after Kim Il-sung's death. Kim Min-seo jumps into the case to uncover a Chinese conspiracy.

This is a novel by Kim Jin-myung, published in 2006. It explores the fictional conspiracy under the assumption that Kim Il-sung was assassinated by China in the complicated international situation among the United States, China, South Korea and North Korea. The author uses fast-paced development, interesting subject matter, and simple and concise style to present a story based on a strong nationalistic sentiment, and it gained widespread popularity.

2006년에 출간된 김진명의 장편소설이다. 이 작품은 미국, 중국, 남한, 북한이 복잡하게 얽힌 국제 정세 속에서 김일성이 중국에 의해 암살당했다는 가정을 하고 그 음모를 파헤치는 소설이다. 강한 민족주의적 정서를 바탕으로 속도감 있는 전개, 흥미로운 소재, 간명한 문체를 보여 폭넓은 대중의 관심을 받는 작품이다.
