The narrator’s mother suddenly gets cancer and her family, including the narrator, is completely taken by surprise. But  mother's condition quickly worsens, and the family prepares for her death. Having never said “I love you” to her mother, the narrator is filled with despair, feeling regretful and sorry for her mother.

This is a novel by No Heekyung, published in 2010. It an adaptation of the special TV miniseries The Most Beautiful Goodbye aired in celebration of MBC’s founding anniversary. It tells the story of a woman in her 50s who is about to die from cancer, and her family’s love. Based on the author’s experience of losing his mother, it shows in detail the daughter’s love that she couldn’t convey to her mother, who suddenly passed away, as well as the sadness and regret of separation resulting from death.

2010년에 출간된 노희경의 장편소설이다. MBC 창사특집극인 <세상에서 가장 아름다운 이별>을 소설로 출간한 것이다. 죽음을 앞둔 50대 여성의 암투병과 가족애를 그린 작품이다. 작가가 모친을 잃은 경험을 토대로 쓴 소설로 갑자기 세상을 떠난 모친에게 미처 전달하지 못한 사랑과 죽음으로 이별한 슬픔과 안타까움 등이 세밀하게 드러나 있다.
