Plot

The narrator presents an image of herself as a capitalist writer with exchange value and focuses on showing that the novelists play a necessary role in maintaining the system. With the goal of becoming a paid fiction writer—that is, a “salary-earning novelist,” she betrays what was known as the role of writers and walks the completely opposite path. Her work includes writing to earn a certain wage without criticizing the Haves.

Descriptions(Languages 2)

This is a short story included in Kim Min-jung's short story collection Hongboyong soseol (Promotional novels), published in 2016, and was published as the 15th book in Asia Publishers’ K-Fiction series in the same year. The author raises questions about the paradigm of literature through her work. She uses the structure of irony to suggest that literature should not and cannot be swept away by the logic of capital.
