King Mu of Baekje, whose childhood name was Seodong, falls in love with Princess Seonhwa of Silla, the rival kingdom to Baekje. He disseminates a song about the princess and himself, and thanks to this song, King Jinpyeong of Silla banishes the princess, and King Mu marries her. The song belongs to the genre of hyangga, but it is also considered a type of hyangchal writing (an archaic writing system used during the time of the Three Kingdoms). There is also the idea that “seodong” refers to a group of boys who gather wild vegetables, not to King Mu of Baekje.
