2006년에 출간된 제51회 현대문학상 수상작품집이다. 정이현의<삼풍백화점>이 수상작이며 김경욱, 박민규, 이응준, 정지아, 한창훈 등의 작품들이 후보작으로 수록되어 있다. 수상작인<삼풍백화점>은 1996년 6월29일 오후5시 55분에 발생한 삼풍백화점 붕괴사고를 10년이 지난 시점에서 묵묵하게 되돌아본 작품이다. 작가는 어이없이 붕괴되어 사라진 사람들에 대한 기억은 집단의 상처로 남아 사라지지 않는 고통이 된다는 것을 애도의 사회학이라는 측면에서 서술한다. <삼풍백화점>은 2007년 작가의 소설집<오늘의 거짓말>에 수록되어 출간되었다.

This collection of short stories was shortlisted for the 51st Modern Literature Award in 2006. Jeong Yi Hyun’s “Sampoong Department Store” won the Best Story Award, and the collection also includes stories by Kim Kyung-uk, Park Min-gyu, Lee Eung Jun, Jeong Ji A, and Han Changhoon. In his story, Jeong looks back on the collapse of the Sampoong Department Store which took place on June 29, 1996 at 5:55 pm. The writer makes it clear that collective trauma persists and that one must grieve as a community and as a society. The story is also included in Jeong’s collection of short stories titled Today’s Lie, which was published in 2007.
