Plot

During the reign of Emperor Xian of Han China, Sakmae, who goes to conquer the Western Regions at the command of the emperor, happens to meet a woman named Jami in the desert and falls in love. Sakmae, who has to wage war according to his superior’s orders, knows that his love with Jami, a woman of a different nationality, is hard to last, but he does not give up.

This is a short story included in Kim Byeola's short story collection Kkumui bujok (The tribe of dreams), published in 2002. It and was published in 2014 as a Korean-English bilingual edition. Set in the post-Han dynasty in China, it tells the story of a fateful love that is difficult to achieve due to issues, such as war and different nationalities.

2002년에 출간된 김별아의 소설집<꿈의 부족>에 수록된 단편으로 바이링궐에디션으로 2014년에 출간되기도 했다. 중국의 後韓시대를 배경으로 전쟁과 국적 등의 문제로 이루어지기 어려운 운명적인 사랑을 이야기하고 있다.
