Published in 2004, this novel by Jung Chan tells the story of Pilate, who presided over the trial of Jesus and ordered his crucifixion.  In the story, the main character becomes intrigued by his accidental discovery that Mount Pilatus was named after Pilate in the Bible, and he begins to see Jesus, not from the biblical point of view, but from the social, cultural, and political perspectives at the time.
