1956년에 발표한 권정웅의 단편소설이며 1974년 출간된 소설집의 표제작이다. 작가는 평양에서 태어난 후 북한의 사회주의 정책에 필요한 작품들을 주로 발표해왔다. 작품은 전후복구를 마친 북한이 사회주의 건설에 매진하기 위해 '천리마 운동'을 슬로건으로 내세웠고, 이를 문학적으로 형상화한 작품이다.

This short story by Kwon Jungwoong was published in 1956, and it was republished as the title story in the collection of short stories Zinnia. The writer was born in Pyongyang, and he wrote stories related to the socialist policies of his country. Under the banner of the Chollima Movement, “Zinnia” deals with rebuilding North Korea after the war.
