Plot

When a journalist for a magazine happens to come to the flower shop where Oh San-i works to take pictures of violets, she falls in love with him because of the kindness he shows her. She tries to find the love she had not received from her family, from a man she meets for the first time, but she is always anxious and lonely.

This is a novel by Shin Kyung sook, published in 2001. This work is based on the short story “The Woman Playing Badminton” published in 2003. It depicts the loneliness and pain of a woman who is accidentally swept away in love with the author’s unique delicate gaze.

2001년에 출간된 신경숙의 장편소설이다. 2003년에 발표한 단편<배드민턴 치는 여자>를 모티프로 한 작품이다. 우연히 사랑에 휩쓸린 여자의 쓸쓸함과 고통을 작가 특유의 섬세한 시선으로 그려내었다.
