Plot

One day, Uncle disappears, leaving only his car behind under the walls of the factory where he worked. His mother had bought him the car with hard-earned money, when he said that he might be able to get married, if he had a car. After taking over Uncle's car, the narrator realizes that the car doesn’t go in reverse and gradually learns about Uncle's story that he didn't know before.

Winner of the 11th Lee Hyo-seok Literary Award in 2010, this short story by Lee Kiho was published in 2014. It depicts the pain of the sudden absence of a family to people who have lived in the margins with a deep perspective on humans and a witty narrative.
