Plot

Huiju and Sangdu fall in love when Sangdu is carried to the hospital for his injury. Huiju is a doctor and Sangdu a gang boss. Despite this obstacle, they marry at a cathedral, but afraid that Huiju will fall in harm’s way because of him, Sangdu turns himself in.

1998년 출간된 이만희희곡집(제2권)에 수록된 작품이다. 1999년 <약속>이라는 제목으로 영화화되었다. 작품은 폭력조직의 두목과 여자 의사의 이루기 어려운 사랑을 그렸다.

Published in 1998, this play is included in Lee Man-hee’s second collection of plays, and this love story between a woman doctor and a gang boss was also made into the film titled A Promise in 1999.
