    This is an introductory booklet on Ko Un, produced for the 2005 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Korea participated as the Guest of Honor for the first time and hosted the Korean Literature Tour Program. The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. Ko Un participated in the main program in October and special events in March, September and October. This 21-page booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Poetry Excerpts’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by the literary critic Yoo Sung-ho, and translated by Han Jung-hwa. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. The booklet contain eight poems including “Time with Dead Poets” translated into German. Ko Un participated in literary events in Yena, Leipzig (March), Düsseldorf (September), Berlin (October), and then at Frankfurt House of Literature, Museum Angewandte Kunst and Cologne House of Literature as part of the main program in October. As one of the 12 Masters of Korean Literature, he was introduced at the Frankfurt Book Fair Korean Pavilion—with a large photograph and a list of his major works and translated titles. Several of his works have been published in German including: Stars of Homeland (1996), the Zen poetry collection What Is It? (2005), Waking Up (2007) and Flower of the Moment (2011).

Several of his works have been published in German including: The Silhouettes of My Mother and Grandmother (2003) and Farmers’ Dance (2005).

The author was one of the 62 delegates selected by LTI Korea’s Delegation Selection Committee on the basis of the following criteria: representativeness, existing publications of translated works, and overseas marketability. The entire literature program was co-organized by the LTI Korea, the Frankfurt Book Fair Organizing Committee, Daesan Cultural Foundation, Paradise Cultural Foundation and the International Communication Foundation (ICF). The events started at the Leipzig Book Fair in March and finished with the Guest of Honor Program in October. The author was unable to attend the events due to personal reasons. This 21-page의 booklet consists of: ‘Author’s Literary World’, ‘Poetry Excerpts’, ‘Voices of the Author and Critics’, ‘Biography’ and ‘Bibliography’. The material was put together and analyzed by the literary critic Cho Yeon-jeong, and translated by Sonja Häussler. The photographs were taken by Han Young-hee. The booklet contains eight poems including ‘The Road with Many Signs Is Suspicious’ translated in German. The German translation of his poetry collection Prison of Love was published in 2005.

    The Theme of _List Vol. 2 is “Established Writers of Korea Examined through Keywords: War and Memory, Industrialization and Democratization, and Alienation and Introspection.” Through the three subthemes “The Testimony of History and the Healing of Wounds,” “A Tumultuous Era – the Literature of Melancholy and Passion,” and “The Crisis and Loss of Identity,” this issue captures the social discourses that arose in the transitional period of modernization through the works of established Korean writers. In addition, this issue presents introductions of the Featured Writer Kim Hoon and poet Ko Un, an interview with photographer Kang Woon-gu, Korean publishing trends, coverage of the acceptance of Korean literature overseas, a spotlight on a literary site, and book reviews of fiction/nonfiction/children’s literature and introduces steady sellers, publishers, and trends in Korean literature to overseas readers.

    The theme of _List Vol. 25 is “Literature of the Korean Diaspora.” It introduces Korean diaspora literature from the United States, Japan, China, and Central Asia and examines the current state of diaspora literature. This issue also includes an interview with the Featured Writer, poet Ko Un, an essay on his world of works, his works that have been published in Korea and abroad, and some of his poems. In addition, it introduces LTI Korea’s projects, such as the 2014 Seoul International Writers’ Festival, the 13th International Workshop for the Translation and Publication of Korean Literature, the 8th Survey of Published Korean Literature, and the residency program and analyzes the trend in the translation and publishing world. It also presents an excerpt from Jo Kyung-ran’s “The Story of Ladle” in English.
