1998년에 영문으로 번역된 시인 유치환의 시선집이다. 표제시인 <깃발>은 1936년 <조선문단>에 발표되었으며, 이상향에 대한 동경과 그것을 이루고자 하는 의지를 드러낸다. 그러나 그러한 의지는 곧 좌절과 비애로 귀결된다. 유치환은 평생 14권에 이르는 시집과 수상집을 간행하였으며, 허무를 극복하려는 강인한 시풍이 특징적이다.

This collection of Yoo Chi-hwan’s poems was translated into English and published in 1998. The poem “Banner” was first published in Joseon Literary Circle in 1936, and in it, the poet expresses admiration for an idealized world and his will to realize it, but his will soon turns into despair and grief. During his life, Yoo published 14 books of poetry and prose, and his poems deal with themes of overcoming a sense of futility.
