Plot

It records the lives of the many victims of Park Chung-hee, who seized power in South Korea for 18 years after the coup d'état on May 16, 1961.

This is a novel by Lee Byeng-ju, published in 1982, and one of his Modern History pentalogy. The author has novelized the impact that political events from May 16, 1961, to October 26, 1979, had on Korea through a historical perspective.

1982년에 발표한 이병주의 장편소설로, 현대사5부작에 속한다. 1961년5월16일부터 1979년10월26일까지의 정치적 사건이 한국에 끼친 영향을 역사적인 시각을 바탕으로 소설로 풀어내었다.
